Gateway of India
The Gateway of India is one of India's unique landmarks situated in the Mumbai city. The main objective behind the construction of the Gateway of India was to tribute the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai. The constructions made of yellow basalt and solid concrete began in 1920 and it took almost four years to complete the construction of the monument. On 4 December 1924, the Gateway of India was inaugurated by the Viceroy.
The entrance was conjointly related to the twenty-six November 2008 terrorist attacks organized by ten members of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, the associate Moslem militant organization based mostly in the Asian nation. The militants disembarked from boats in 2 teams at the entrance of Asian nation and proceeded to hold out twelve coordinated shooting and bombing attacks in and around south Bombay, killing over one hundred fifty Indian and foreign nationals.
